TSUKIJI FISH MARKET
Venturing away from our home in Duxbury, two members of the Snug crew traveled to the amazing Tsukiji Market in Japan! Just south of Tokoyo Station, Tsukiji was formerly home to one of the largest fish markets in the world. In its prime, it handled over 2,000 tons of seafood each day! Though it’s wholesale and fish auction have relocated to Toyosu, the Tsukiji Market is still thriving. Now they offer fresh fish, delicious restaurants, and one-of-a-kind kitchen equipment available for locals and tourists. We haven’t been for ourselves, quite yet – but we experienced this treasure vicariously through our former employees, Kylie and Breezy!
Earlier this year, Kylie sent us some amazing photos from her time in Japan!
She first visited Kyoto with her husband Louis, sharing that she greatly enjoyed reconnecting with her Japanese heritage. She then headed to Tokoyo and took a little piece of home with her: Snug merch! Kylie may not work for Snug anymore, but she has many years of knowledge and experience when it comes to seafood. It’s amazing to see our staff utilizing their skills and education to explore other cultures. We are so proud of Kylie, not only for her successes within Snug, but for the many ways she continues to impress us in her adulthood. It’s amazing to keep in touch with our alumni staff and watch them continue to grow!

Doing some of our own research, we discovered the main website for the Tsukiji Fish Market and were astonished at all they have to offer! What first caught our eye was the delicious sushi – over twenty restaurants are actively listed with delicious fresh sushi. Breezy even witnessed a sushi-making workshop while browsing through the market! Our focus is definitely on the fresh seafood, but don’t let that fool you – the market has so much more to offer! Fruits, vegetables, Japanese delicacies, seasoning, snacks, knives, and more can all be found there. To ensure their tourists get to see the best of the market, an itinerary is listed with the best times for each of the main attractions.
Breezy sends her love from Tsukiji Market
One of our current employees, Breezy, also stopped by the Tsukiji Market while vacationing in Japan this summer. Before visiting Taiwan to meet her boyfriend, Erik’s, family, the pair ventured through the many streets of the Tsukiji Market. As avid sushi lovers, these two certainly made the most of their trip! They indulged in some of the “freshest sushi and most delicious ramen”. Her many years at Snug lured her towards their stunning displays of fresh seafood.
